primary and secondary succession
|
In deserts, primary succession could occur on a sand dune.
Bacteria finds pockets of moisture in the sand. after that they put down there roots and make soil, this soil eventually will make grass and shrubs. In deserts, secondary succession is when the soil has been ruined by fire, floods, drought, etc. but then is redeveloped. This is a lot faster than primary succession. |
